Doing aerial photograph of Salt Spring Island is always a joy. Salt Spring is the largest of the Southern Gulf Islands with a size of 182.7 square kilometres (70.5 sq miles). Salt Spring Island is beautiful from the air as there are numerous mountains, lakes and harbours to take in. With this comes a population base of over 10,000 people year round with a huge increase during the summer months. The main town, Ganges, has great restaurants, many art galleries and its famous Ganges Saturday Market which attracts both the locals and tourists.
Salt Spring Island is served by BC Ferries from Swartz Bay and Crofton on Vancouver Island and Tsawwassen on the mainland. For boaters there are numerous marinas and anchorages available. Float plane service is also available through SaltSpring Air, Seair Seaplanes, Harbour Air and Kenmore Air.
